It's been four years since Woolf unleashed their debut album. Now they'reback with a dystopian vision of feminist queer punk. The London four-piecehave produced an album conveying alienation and activist fury, the openingtrack “Civilisation” setting the tone with the (rhetorical) question “is thiswhat they call civilisation?”. Wall of sound guitar distortion provides abackdrop for a commanding, minimalist bass and insistent drums, withvocals that straddle the line between anxiety and paganity. It's 11 unsettlingsongs in 11 uncompromising minutes, recalling the experimentation of nowave bands such as UT distorted by a raw punk aesthetic.
