ROSEANNE BARRR - REPULSION LP

Recorded in early 2012 Primative Sounds and Tuff Enuff Records have co-released the new LP by London’s Roseanne Barrr. A two-piece DIY queer punk band who have spent the last five years playing hard across the country, bassist Patrick and drummer Sophie play confrontational, dark and violent grunge-tinged no-wave brought together with spoken word and improvisational pieces. Described by Upset The Rhythm as “hypnotic thump, distorted throb and teen-cult chanting” their music frequently plays on themes of sex and violence and the LP is littered with references to writers such as Jean Genet, Anna Kavan, and Kathy Acker as well as Mariah Carey and Catherine Deneuve. At 45 minutes their music equally suits listening under the covers in your teenage bedroom or witnessed as one of their tense and aggressive live shows. ‘Repulsion’ is the bands first LP vinyl release, after a series of cassettes and CD-R releases and a track on Tuff Enuff’s own Riots Not Diet’s LP. It features 10 tracks spanning 45 minutes.
