HEAVENLY - HEAVENLY VS. SATAN LP ! Heavenly’s first LP for Sarah Records from 1991 was, like the two that followed, an eight-song affair - though both sides of debut 7” I Fell In Love Last Night are included here. The band were still a four-piece, Cathy Rogers having yet to join, so the sound, at least vocally, is maybe simpler than what followed, but that just means more room for the guitars, bass and drums, and Heavenly vs Satan is pretty much a perfect pop punk artefact, hook-laden and heartfelt, Amelia Fletcher’s vocals laced alternately with humour and emotion, then suddenly soaring into Shallow’s towering chorus.
