OKRES "Demo '85 / Jarocin '85" LP OUT NOW!
Polish Punx of the 80s associated the city Ostrów Wielkopolski with two bands: PROWOKACJA and OKRES. The former were more recognisable, but both were characterised by their rapid no thrills hardcore punk. Both were active at a similar time.
PROWOKACJA had a bigger breakthrough - they were one of the winners at Jarocin '84 fest and put one song on the compilation "Fala". OKRES' first show took place alongside PROWOKACJA a few months later. Both bands, on the other hand, appeared on the stage of Jarocin, which was actually only 50 km away from their hometown, in 1985.
OKRES' performance at the festival showed that they are one of the fastest playing bands in Poland. Their pace was not inferior to that of their peers from Finland, Holland or Italy. The subjects of the lyrics touched on the worries of the Cold War generation and the confinement behind the curtain - wars rolling across the globe, arms race, militarisation, the nuclear threat, revulsion at politicians. The need to point out the world's mess conquered by ultra hardcore was more important than technical skill or attention to good sound. This came in the subsequent years of the band.
Throughout the same year they recorded two demos, at least one of which was sent to the organisers of the festival in Jarocin and they got invitation where they played on the same day as ABADDON, also with ANTI-ARMA and KARCER, who were starting their long adventures at that time, as well as with ZBOMBARDOWANA LALECZKA and AGONIA, among others.
Two songs from their set found their way onto the cassette compilation "Jarocin '85" released by the Chodorowski couple on Polish-HC Tapes and appeared on the international tape-trading network. In 1986, the band returned to Jarocin. Unfortunately, the band's anti-war message did not protect some of the line-up from compulsory military service. Thus, they were forced to suspend themselves and did not manage to record anything in a more decent studio or release anything in the 1980s, not even their own cassette. An album recorded in the early 1990s at the Złota Skała Studio never saw the light of day. It was only after thirteen years of existence that the band made their debut album (not counting the Live '92 cassette) - 'Patridiotism' for QQRYQ Productions was released in 1997. At the time they were closely associated with the band HEROINA.
The 17 tracks on this album come from a demo recorded at the local culture centre and a soundboard recordings of their live set at Jarocin '85. Traditionally, the Jarocin series will feature a gatefold cover, an inner sleeve with lyrics and a booklet with a contemporary interview with the band. Mastering by Smok and Mario / Studio As One.
Documentary of the first chapter of the OKRES history. Their own contribution to the 'Anarchy in the People's Republic of Poland' as they sang. This is what the 'Garage Ostrów' of the mid-1980s sounded like.
