Magic City - s/t 7"

Debut EP from Cleveland's latest export, Magic City. Reportedly named after the members' favorite strip joint in town, Magic City feature several well-known local reprobates from groups like Bad Noids, Flying Trichecos, and Brainwashed Youth. And yes, that would include Paul Schlacter on guitar. Anyhow, onto the four tracks on this EP - Magic City are far from a traditional hardcore group, as the sound here runs between obnoxiously efficient punk and wah-inflected hard rock. While there's definitely an appreciation for guitar heavy 70's rock in the mix, Magic City scale these four songs into an aggressive and memorable punk EP. The usual tongue-in-cheek humor of Cleveland punk isn't as front-and-center in this group, so while Magic City don't tout as many great one-liners as their lineage might bear, they succeed as a ruling new punk group from Cleveland's neverending supply of curios.
